My Background

My name is Gail Longhurst, I am an experienced Humanistic Integrative Counsellor. I work within a therapeutic relationship, with a variety of techniques, chosen and tailored specifically to my client’s needs. This process is supported through a structured framework.
My focus is to build a strong relationship with my clients to support and contain them through the challenges of the counselling work they choose to do.

A brief snapshot of some of my work



I have worked as a counsellor and supervisor for several years with clients who are bereaved. My clients have stretched across the age ranges and with all types of loss. I have also worked alongside clients struggling to cope with loved ones who were terminally ill.



I have extensive experience working with survivors of childhood abuse and domestic violence. This includes working with feelings around power and control, the loss of childhood; strong feelings of guilt and shame, low self-esteem and so much more. I have also worked with the challenging field of honour crime.



Many of my clients have referred themselves for counselling; however I have also worked with clients referred by HM Armed Forces, the Police and Social Services.
I am an experienced Supervisor and have volunteered for a Dorset based and a National charity, I work on a 1:2:1 and group basis.
